Translation Committee....who were they exactly? Credentials?

...since it evidently was not confirmed in advance that the agm was going to be exclusively about releasing the rnwt.. i mean, we all kinda sorta expected it, but no one had a "smoking gun", as it were, officially confirming it.. in contrast, there was the leak, posted on this forum, of the july 15 2013 watchtower, a week or 2 before its official posting on jw.org.. .
i'm sure the rnwt was a well-guarded secret - on the other hand, there has been a rnwt translation committee in existence for 5+ years.
absolutely no one in the "apostate community" even hinted at this committee's existence.

got caught at the supermarket (in between the martini olives and snack crackers ) with several bottles of hard liquor in my basket along with some red licorice by a sister that has known me for years.
still respects me, not knowing that i am in full fade mode, or at least not recognizably knowing.
anyway, when she sees me, her eyes get all big and she heads in my direction, nearly ramming my liquor laden cart with her vegan oriented basket.. "hey sop, how are you doing?
@Stand for pure worship-
Please don't hijack a thread to stand up for YOUR ideals of Pure Worship. If you actually knew what your name implies, you would not be here. Unless, of course, you are simply a troll looking to incite a reaction. In any event, start your own thread and let the people speak to the point of the thread.
Oh, one other point, if debating non or exwitnesses on a website that you deem "apostate." is your notion of "pure" worship, then how can you say you are standing when in fact your conviction is crippled by your actions.
Just a thought,

"Hey SOP, how are you doing? It's SOOO good to see you!"
I exchange the pleasantry.
"What time are you going to the Annual Meeting event?"
"I didn't know it was an event, but anyway, I'm not gonna be able to make it."
"Oh, no," she replies. "That's a shame. I hope everything's OK. I mean, the EXCITEMENT IS PALPABLE! I am so excited I can hardly contain myself! It's like when Franz came back in the '70's. You can just feel that something is gonna happen!"
"Wow," I say, " kinda like when your left arm starts hurting right before a cardiac episode?" (sarcasm has always been strong with my family)
(That didn't go over well. )
"Well, I hope you can make it. It's gonna be great. I just know it is."
Any of you getting this kind of feedback?

jw gonebad made this comment in another post:.
get a load of this audacious and brassy statement by the self-appointed fds in par 2 of todays lesson:.
it is vital that we recognize the faithful slave.
If the slave is ONLY the current GB and our life is dependent on working with that slave and recognizing that slave,
then I guess salvation for everyone who worked with the previous slave is up the creek cause they didn't know who that slave was.
Jesus said to the woman at the well, "We worship what we know..."
How does that equate to what the Watchtower has taught for decades?

does the organization of jehovah's witnesses do any charity work?.
answer from a wt apologist.

Oh, sorry, another point:
I recall the response of the commander in Angels and Demons (the movie)
"My church feeds the hungry, comforts the sick and dying. What does your church do?"
Great question for a Witness.
I usually hear the response about teaching someone to fish being better than giving them a fish.
yeah, a kid dying of AIDS or a family suffering from the ravages of Alzheimer's or Parkinson's really wants to learn how to fish!

I am a firm believer in donating to charitable causes that concern me.
I recall once mentioning that to a brother who commented that I should be contributing that money to the organization.
He stated, "They do more than any charity is going to do! They provide the chance for eternal changes."
My comment: " I don't think someone with cancer cares about the eternal...they are just trying to make it till tomorrow."
Blank stare, mouth open.

john barr served in the gb and died in dec 2010 at the age of 97.. in his funeral talk and the accompanying eulogy tract that was printed, is the final sentence:.
"without a doubt, he slept for but a moment in death and has now received his heavenly reward and his father's approval - all he ever wanted!".
given that the new light about being approved and appointed over all things is now a future event linked to the gt trib, was it correct to teach these things about brother barr at his funeral service?.
Good catch Splash! (loved the movie)
One must understand that the slave, although used in a singular sense, is actually a composite group where decisions are made collectively. Therefore, the collective consciousness of the FDS, whether here on earth or in heaven during the "time of the end" serves as a singular entity, thereby singularly attaching their collective composite nature, forming, in essence, a new creation. This singular collective composition creates an understanding similar to the Trinity doctrine in that it is collectively, the singular most difficult composition to understand...evidently.
It is with this understanding that the Jack Barr position is perfectly acceptable as in line with current, somewhat muddled, dare I say opaque light.

so after the annual meeting, on sunday, the elders want to talk with my family.
i do not like this one bit.
perhaps i am being exposed.
Thoughtless,
Unless you have given yourself up publicly. i.e. posted on a general website that has your name attached to it, your opinions that are contrary to the organization OR unless you have spoken publicly to 2 or more people at the same time regarding your opinions that are contrary to the organization, then I agree with daniel-p....just sit there are nod.
Procedure is procedure. If you are an adult, especially if you are baptized, the elders don't have the right to discuss your situation with your family. So, you may be overthinking this. They may simply want to take advantage of the "high holy day" to visit your family and try to encourage you.
If they meet with your family and try to discuss issues that pertain to you (as an adult), you should simply state, "If there is something that you would like to address with me, then I would appreciate it if you did so in private." In that way, you can control the situation and the blowback from your family will be minimal. UNLESS, however, your family is very loyal to you as an individual. At times, the elders will be very hesitant to make even the slightest assertion if they feel the family is gonna go balistic...
The fact that they want to meet with everybody seems like it is more shepherding than anything else. One thing is for sure, it doesn't help getting yourself worked up for it. One day at a time is the best way to live. I think Jesus said it best, "sufficient for each day is its own badness..."

- 23 day to go .. annual meeting unofficial rumors.
- new bible.
- new nwt (revision).
When the letter was reread yesterday, the chairman reminded everyone of the criteria to get in. Does this jibe with what you know?
1. Publisher (he didn't specify active or not. considering my current status, I was surprised that someone approached me to ask if I was going. They know my status...a k a INACTIVE)
2. Children of Publishers.
3. Must be able to read and WRITE english to attend this venue.
4. Must belong to one of the half dozen or so congregations invited so as to not BURDEN the venue with overfill.
Now, why would you need to know how to write to attend. I'm sure he said read and WRITE not read and SPEAK.
Could it be time for another minister card like we had decades ago?

# 3 newbie post.
first of all, the newbies have set a record here!.
have you ever seen a 4pg post where 21 new members reply!
Thank you for the warm welcome. It is more than I get when I go the local KH. LOL
I agree, a LOT of people are waking up. I am still using the WD-40 to loosen the bond on this lock that holds my family captive. Kind of feel like Jess in Breaking Bad!
